Kevin Shaun Vitale

Founding Attorney

I founded Vitale Law Firm on a simple conviction: there’s a better way to help families protect what they’ve built. My practice — estate planning, elder law, and transactional business law — is built around three outcomes most families don’t realize are at risk until it’s too late: staying out of probate, staying out of family conflict, and keeping a lifetime of work from being eroded by long-term-care costs.

I approach estate planning as education first, not paperwork first. Where the default approach hands a client a binder and sends them on their way, mine starts by making sure the family understands what their plan actually does — and ends with a plan that’s funded and built to work when it’s needed. I’d rather a client understand their plan than simply sign it.

That standard comes from somewhere. My path to the law ran through the military. I enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in 1999 and served through 2007. I earned my commission as an Army officer through ROTC from 2007 to 2010, then served in the United States Army from 2010 to 2024, including time as a Judge Advocate (JAG). More than two decades in uniform left me with a service ethic that defines how I practice: do the work right, follow through, and never leave people exposed.

I guide clients through everything from comprehensive estate plans to business transactions. The aim is always the same — practical, tailored solutions built around the family or business in front of me, not a template.

I earned my undergraduate degree from Washington University in St. Louis, graduating summa cum laude, and my J.D. from Saint Louis University School of Law. I’m licensed in Missouri and Kansas, with offices in Wentzville, Missouri and Overland Park, Kansas. I’m a member of The Missouri Bar and the Kansas Bar Association, and I’m admitted to practice before the U.S. District Courts for the District of Kansas and the Eastern District of Missouri.

Outside the firm, my time belongs to my family. My wife, Rachel, and I are raising four children — Caelan, Fern, Oliver, and Finn. When I’m not working, you’ll find me with family, traveling, deep in a book, chasing down a strong cup of coffee, or under the hood of a fast car.

Whether I’m drafting an estate plan or structuring a business deal, the goal is the one that’s driven me from the start: a better way to protect the people and the work that matter most.
